Your questions answered.
What is the value for students for adopting the exercises?
To set the foundation for developing the practical skills needed for both career success and active citizenship. These exercises have been designed and created by award-winning educator and social innovator, Dr. Coplin alongside students and colleagues, which speaks for itself based on empirical evidence that spans over 45+ years.
Which class is best suited for the exercises?
They can be used in any course or dropped in any available timeslot since they are not subject-specific. Each exercise ranges from approximately 10 to 30 minutes.
How many exercises should be used?
An assigned implementation team lead member of Caper will schedule an initial 1-hour consultation session with you in order to introduce you to the exercises. From there, hands-on demos will be provided that depending on the number of exercises being implemented and associating cadence can range anywhere between 15 to 60 minutes. Ultimately, Caper’s objective is to provide support from the onset through a few teach-in’s to transfer the knowledge and tools used for implementation purposes, a critical component to its success, such that it will be easily integrated into the select educational environment.
What kind of preparation is involved for implementation?
It provides students with an opportunity to apply their learned skills in a real-world environment while creating potential opportunities to partner with the client in the future. Equally important, it further expands each students’ network while promoting increased civic engagement and community impact.
How does the community-linked project connect with the exercises?
It provides students with an opportunity to apply their learned skills in a real-world environment while creating potential opportunities to partner with the client in the future. Equally important, it further expands each students’ network while promoting increased civic engagement and community impact.
How much time will each project take to complete?
This varies depending on scope and complexity, but it can be easily self-defined in collaboration with the local organization (eg government agency, non-profit organization, small business etc). Some projects can be done over the course of few classes while more extensive ones may require additional class time that could spread over an entire semester.
